Une p\u00e9pite concise et farfelue \u00e0 la fois. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Publi\u00e9 le Vendredi 19 mai 2023 Vincent Ostria \u00ab\u2009MIX UP OU M\u00c9LI-M\u00c9LO\u2009\u00bb DE FRAN\u00c7OISE ROMAND. FRANCE, 1985,\u00a01 H 00\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A voir sur\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/universcine.com\/\">universcine.com<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Y a-t-il des cin\u00e9astes injustement m\u00e9connus? C\u2019est certain. On peut citer le cas de Marcel Hanoun, stylistiquement proche de Robert Bresson, qui n\u2019obtint jamais la reconnaissance qu\u2019il m\u00e9ritait. Mais il en est de plus obscurs encore, dont le statut marginal reste surprenant, eu \u00e9gard \u00e0 la qualit\u00e9 et l\u2019originalit\u00e9 de leur travail. Prenons le cas de Fran\u00e7oise Romand, qui tourne depuis 1977, et dont le premier long-m\u00e9trage, \u00ab\u2009Mix-up ou m\u00e9li-m\u00e9lo\u2009\u00bb, fut produit par la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision fran\u00e7aise en 1985. Sur le papier, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un documentaire\u2009: il retrace l\u2019histoire de Peggy et Valerie, deux Anglaises du m\u00eame \u00e2ge qui furent \u00e9chang\u00e9es par erreur \u00e0 la naissance et ne d\u00e9couvrirent la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 que vingt ans plus tard. On peut imaginer qu\u2019\u00c9tienne Chatiliez s\u2019est inspir\u00e9 de cette histoire vraie pour sa farcesque \u00ab\u2009Vie est un long fleuve tranquille\u2009\u00bb. Grosso modo, la cin\u00e9aste met en sc\u00e8ne l\u2019histoire in situ avec le concours des femmes \u00e9chang\u00e9es et de leurs familles qui, on l\u2019apprend, se connaissaient. Ces personnes t\u00e9moignent face cam\u00e9ra et jouent des sayn\u00e8tes. Fran\u00e7oise Romand les filme de fa\u00e7on synth\u00e9tique, ludique, avec un sens du cadre tr\u00e8s rigoureux. D\u2019une certaine mani\u00e8re, \u00ab\u2009Mix-up\u2009\u00bb est un anti-documentaire car on ne laisse jamais tourner la cam\u00e9ra sans intervenir (m\u00e9thode Wiseman). Au contraire, les personnages rejouent leur vie, y compris des \u00e9pisodes de leur jeunesse ; d\u2019autres fois des figurants incarnent leurs r\u00f4les lorsqu\u2019ils \u00e9taient enfants. \u00c0 ce travail synth\u00e9tique tourn\u00e9 en 16 mm s\u2019adjoignent des bribes de films de famille en 8 mm. Il y a dans cette \u0153uvre un caract\u00e8re net, brut et graphique, dont la folie douce fait le charme irr\u00e9sistible. En prenant le contre-pied des clich\u00e9s sur le \u00ab\u2009cin\u00e9ma du r\u00e9el\u2009\u00bb , en \u00e9purant la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 \u00e0 sa guise et en la r\u00e9interpr\u00e9tant, Fran\u00e7oise Romand invente un nouveau style de cin\u00e9ma o\u00f9 la vraie vie devient \u00e0 son tour une fiction, qui permet de sortir enfin de la sacro-sainte routine du documentaire alternant interviews et s\u00e9quences film\u00e9es sur le vif. There&rsquo;s a pristine, farcical quality about the style, but its very overcomposed rigor ironically suggests the absurdity of a world where havoc can be wreaked by mere chance, where things simply can&rsquo;t be controlled.
